Here at Higher Ground Sports in Golden, BC we are dedicated to promoting and sustaining an active mountain lifestyle in and around our little town​.

Higher Ground Mountain Sports was founded as Kicking Horse Gear Exchange in 2001, with the main aim of having a small consignment store to provide experienced goods to the town. This changed in 2008 with the introduction of quality new brands, which grew steadily over the years to provide a one-stop-shop for any adventure. In September 2014, the store moved across the street to its current location, still upholding the high standards of customer service, introducing the rental products currently in store and adding to the already varied inventory. A few years later in 2017 they ceased accepting consignment due to a low market trend, to help folk who searched for consignment Higher Ground Sports set-up an excellent kids buy-back program for skis/snowboards and bikes to aid families in lessening the financial burden of buying new each year. Along with this change they widened the range of rental gear they provided.

In the heart of Canada’s rugged mountain culture, Higher Ground Mountain Sports is Golden BC’s only mountain store specializing in backcountry ski’s, split-board’s, snowboards, climbing gear, boutique bike brands and biking equipment, camping gear, and quality goods for any adventure.  With a variety of brands such as Scarpa, Dynafit, Dalbello, Atomic, Volkl, DPS, Rossignol, Jones, Salomon Snowboards, K2, Marker, Diamir, EVIL Bikes, Transition, YETI, Devinci, Norco, Scott, Cannondale, Petzl, G3, Black Diamond, MSR, Thermarest, Smartwool, The North Face, Columbia, RAB, Buff, Fischer XC, Salomon XC, Swix and more….
